(Oklahoma City) Gov. Brad Henry today publicised that Oklahoma County has become declared a disaster region from the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for the dangerous flooding outbreak that occurred June 14.
Under the declaration, contiguous counties will also be entitled for assistance, and therefore residents in Canadian, Cleveland, Kingfisher, Lincoln, Logan along with Pottawatomie counties can also get support.

The designation provides SBA low-interest catastrophe loans for renters, home owners and business owners to mend or replace any structure ruined by the flooding which was not included by insurance or different support programs. The loan program is also obtainable to assist companies that endured monetary injury from the extreme weather.
The Governor asked the SBA assistance a week ago after FEMA denied Individual Assistance for Oklahoma County inhabitants. More than 220 homes and companies were damaged in the flooding and lower than 2 percent of the homes were covered by flood insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program. The main reason for the low insurance coverage is almost all properties are not positioned in an identified flood zone.
“The SBA low-interest loan program won’t address all of the needs of flood victims, but it will provide some much-needed assistance as they rebuild and recover, ” said Gov. Henry.
